A black river 7233 miles long
Alone on a rocky beach
She hymns a song
A black river dense as petroleum
and 7233 miles long
“Close your eyes and draw a sun”
But I’ve never seen one!
She stomps her feet
Her palms still covering her eyes
A kid, stuck in a game of hide and seek
Whales sing and salmons find home
And sea turtles live hundreds of years long
But along this black river
She quietly sits and sings
No one is coming and
no one was ever gone
